The subject of this book is the sensitive or empathic child, something that is near and dear to the author and her family. As an elementary school teacher for many years, Linda had many experiences working with sensitive/empathic children who live, behave and learn in very different ways from others.
The idea was to create a story that helps parents and others in their lives lead their sensitive children to a life of feeling good about themselves. If this story reminds you of someone you know, your child, or yourself, please learn more and find comfort in knowing “all is well!” Aileen is a very sensitive young girl who also has a kind of knowingness or intuition about lots of things. One time she sees something in a dream that gives her a strong feeling of sadness, and which foretells of an actual experience she will have that very day.
Granny Shannon helps the girl to appreciate her unique personality – that her emotions and sensations are natural, and the insight she possesses is a wonderful gift! Will she be able to use her gift for something good? Linda Sickles is a teacher, grandmother, cookie-baker, spiritual lover of life, and author of two previous books, The Lives of Pearl and Honey Girl & Bella: A Hero’s Journey. Her husband Robert, a retired graphic designer, enjoys illustrating and designing books, and has worked on several in his spare time between gardening, cooking and dog-walking. Their home is frequently a gathering place for family and friends.
Linda and Robert live in Olympia, the capital of Washington State, USA, a small seaport city not far from Seattle. It’s also a short drive to rainforests of tall trees, national parks and campgrounds, Pacific coast towns & beaches, and beautiful snow-capped mountains – all places they love to explore. Favorite travels together include Italy, Yucatan in Mexico, Canada, and the east coast US states, especially New England, and New Orleans, Louisiana. They have also vacationed in Alaska (by cruise), Hawaii, Montana, Arizona, California and Oregon. On the short list for future travels: Scotland/England, Ireland and other European countries.
