Description

Unique perspective that the audience dictates the content of a portfolio and, therefore, there are different types of portfolios for different audiences. (Ex. Section 2).

  • Students may have heard different things about portfolios which can be confusing.  This portfolio provides a great way to undersand the differences.

Easy to read with lots of checklists and exercises.  It is not overly copy-intensive. (Ex. throughout the book – all sections).

  • Students will appreciate the concise writing and exercises that help them shape their thoughts.

Quick read Tips are available throughout the book.

  • Keeps the reading lively.

Stories of how real students have used different types of portfolios in different situations and to different audiences. (Ex. Section 2).

  • The stories help frame each type of portfolio.  Since the majority of stories are college students they are easy for other students to relate to.

Easy process for creating a portfolio after determining the audience, purpose, objectives, and outcomes.  To create the portfolio – collect, reflect, assemble. (Ex. Section 3).

  • Process is simplified so that students won’t feel the process is so complicated that it isn’t worth doing.

Worksheets for each type of portfolio to help students create their portfolios.  Each worksheet includes questions about the audience, purpose, objectives, goals, and outcomes for the portfolio. (Ex. Section 4).

  • If students follow the step by step worksheet, creating a portfolio will be fun and easy.

Presentation Notes for each type of portfolio. (Ex. Section 4).

  • Rather than just stopping after the portfolio is made, the presentation notes give tips on how to present the portfolio in different situations.  This is especially important with the resume-based portfolio.
